Mahjong Story 2

Mahjong Story 2 rewards the player who reads coverage, not just matching symbols. Take the pair that uncovers the deepest buried tile each turn, and the board keeps opening instead of stalling with only blocked matches left.

SPEED RUN NOTES

Xcw speed-run notes

01

Win condition

Clear every tile from the board by removing matching pairs until none remain, before the level's move or time limit runs out. A tile only counts as removable when nothing covers its top and at least one side is open, so the win depends on keeping removable tiles flowing to the last match.

02

Fastest line

Scan the free layer before each match and compare which identical pair releases the most tiles under it. Dig the tallest stacks and blocked edges first, and when a symbol has three or four visible copies, take the two that expose new tiles rather than the two nearest your cursor.

03

Input language

Click or tap one free tile, then its matching partner, to remove the pair. Hint and shuffle controls sit around the board for when no productive pair is visible, but every tap should still be spent on a pair that opens the layout further.

04

Opening play

Open with the match that sits on top of the deepest stack or along a wall that is pinning other tiles. Avoid spending your first pairs on flat, exposed tiles — they will still be there later, while the buried pieces only become free once the tiles above them are gone.

05

Score signals

You are ahead when each removal keeps at least two new tiles playable, or the tile you just freed reveals a match you were waiting for. You are stalling when your remaining matches are all surface copies of a symbol whose last twin is buried, or when the board offers fewer than two playable pairs — that is when to reach for a hint or shuffle.

06

Recovery

If the board locks up, stop taking visible matches and identify which symbol's last copies are buried. Work the tiles directly above those buried pieces, or burn a shuffle to re-deal the layout, then rebuild from the top layers downward instead of clearing random pairs.

Player questions: Mahjong Story 2

How do I control Mahjong Story 2?

Click or tap one free tile, then its identical partner, to remove the pair. Hint and shuffle buttons sit around the board for when the layout offers no useful match.

What makes a mahjong tile playable?

Nothing may cover its top, and at least one side must be open. Because covered tiles stay locked until the pieces above them are removed, dig the tallest stacks and walls first so the buried tiles keep coming free.
