Mermaid Rush

Pick the lane that stays clear past the next pickup and change once, so you gather rewards without steering into a hazard.

SPEED RUN NOTES

Xcw speed-run notes

01

Win condition

Complete the course in a good finish position while collecting useful pickups and staying clear of hazards. The run advances on its own, so winning is about which lane you hold at each moment, not how fast you tap.

02

Fastest line

Compare the next two lanes and pick a route that keeps open water after the pickup — not the one with the shiniest item. Move once, deliberately, and stay smooth between pickups instead of chasing every reward.

03

Input language

Only lane position is manual: slide your finger or pointer horizontally across the course while the run carries forward. There are no extra buttons, so the skill is committing to a lane early and not over-steering between items.

04

Opening play

In the first seconds, resist grabbing the nearest pickup and look one lane beyond it. If that reward pulls you into a hazard, skip it and hold the clear lane — one risky item is not worth a run-ending hit.

05

Score signals

You are reading the course well when each lane change is one clean slide and the character stays centered. You are drifting into trouble when you keep correcting side to side after a pickup — that usually means you committed to a lane that dead-ends at a hazard.

06

Recovery

If you clip a hazard or fall behind, straighten to a clear lane and center the character before the next obstacle pattern. Take the safe line even if it means skipping the next pickup, then resume collecting once you have open water again.

Player questions: Mermaid Rush

How do I control Mermaid Rush?

Only lane position is manual: slide your finger or pointer horizontally while the course carries the run forward. Commit to a lane early and keep the movement to one smooth change at a time.

Do I need every pickup on the course?

No. Skip a pickup when it pulls you toward a hazard, and favor a lane that stays clear past the reward. Route safety keeps a run alive longer than grabbing every item.
